Statement Regarding Terrorist Attacks in Mumbai

We would like to express our very deepest sympathy to all affected by the horrific attacks in Mumbai, including our industry colleagues. While none of Starwood Hotels’ three hotels in Mumbai were impacted by the events, and our associates and guests are safe, we have maintained security at all of our properties in India at the highest level for some time and have heightened procedures even more in the aftermath of these terrorist attacks.  These procedures are also in accordance with Starwood’s Emergency and Crisis Management Plan. In Mumbai, we have further intensified physical security at our hotels and are able to limit access to only our guests and authorized personnel.

The safety and security of guests and associates is our paramount priority. In today’s uncertain world, our safety responsibility has never been more important. Therefore, beginning several years ago, we undertook a global overhaul of our existing emergency and crisis programs and procedures to address terrorism-related events as well as traditional crises.

We have made a significant investment to upgrade our emergency and crisis procedures and security measures in light of world events, understanding that travelers are ever more concerned about their personal safety, whether at home or on the road.

Again, we extend our heartfelt sympathy to all of those affected by the recent tragedy in Mumbai.

Formerly known as Bombay, Mumbai is the commercial hub of India, and elements of the colonial era embrace the architectural marvel of one of the city’s most alluring hotels—Le Royal Méridien Mumbai. Located in the heart of the city, this five-star hotel is situated just minutes away from some of the prominent shopping and busiest business districts of the city.

Designed along the lines of a 19th-century summer palace, the hotel is a lively mélange of colonial era influences and modern amenities. Each of the 171 Classic, Deluxe, Royal Club and Royal Club Premium guest rooms and suites reflect European elegance. To enhance the ambience of a stately home, the rooms are beautifully decorated with different hues of wood, set off by wooden floors along with cream and beige soft furnishings. The hotel’s three restaurants and lounge bar present a selection of cuisines from around the world.

The nearby international airport and vibrancy of the city make Le Royal Méridien Mumbai the perfect meeting location, and the hotel offers four meeting rooms and five conference rooms. The Esprit Health Club offers a sauna, Jacuzzi, 24-hour fitness centre, and a menu of massage therapies. Surrounded by landscaped gardens, the outdoor pool enjoys constant sunlight, making it the perfect escape at any time of the day.

Mumbai’s sites are within easy reach of the hotel, from the multitude of sights at Film City and Mumbai’s largest exhibition centre to a visit to the stunning Sanjay Gandhi National Park and the Kanheri Caves.

LM100 is a group of cultural innovators and artists who define and enrich the guest experience at Le Méridien. The group comprises a global array of visionaries, from painters to photographers, musicians to designers, chefs to architects.
